Designer Janet Haigh
Florentine stitch, or Bargello, is commonly associated with flame and wave patterns. It was very popular in England in the 17th and 18th centuries. Janet takes this familiar pattern and gives it an unexpected twist, transforming the usual regular repeat into something much more lively. It is worked in half-cross stitch, not long stitch, but on wider gauge canvas to retain the feel of Bargello.
